Days Sales In Cash

According to Oprah.com and several studies, household clutter is both a trigger and symptom of depression. Besides that, clutter collects unhealthy dust mites and serves as a breeding ground for bacteria and mold. If these are not reasons enough to eliminate household clutter consider this: most unnecessary items can be sold for cold, hard cash in the right venue.

Yard Sales and Flea Markets: Great for Household Items and Collectibles

The great American yard sale is the most obvious way to sell household clutter. All that is needed is a few tables that can be used outside, a shady spot to sit and a rain-free Saturday morning. Items such as kitchen appliances, books, toys and baby accessories are popular yard sale treasures. Yard sales with the most success post an advertisement in the local newspaper announcing the day and time of the sale. This is usually a free service, but can cost as much as $10 for some bigger newspapers. Kids can join the yard sale fun by making signs out of poster board and markers to hang on light poles near the yard sale site.

Flea markets are also great places to sell household clutter, especially those items considered “collectible,” like Star Wars figurines, stamps, coins, Happy Meal toys and the like. Most flea markets rent yard sale tables for $5-15 per weekend day. The advantage of flea markets is the automatic foot traffic. More people looking at items means more chances to sell them.
